May/June 2015: Hometown Hero of the Month is Crystal Rau. As the wife of a local police officer, Crystal Rau has taken ownership, ,commitment, and a vested interest to support law enforcement officers and their families at the local, state, and federal level by spearheading her own initiative and involvement to Honor, Remember, and Support anyone and everyone who wears the badge including our four-legged K9 partners. In a battle against the recent mass negativity against law enforcement in the media far and wide, Crystal Rau has hit the streets herself to remind everyone that our law enforcement officers are the good guys 365 days a year and many families have sacrificed their loved ones doing this very dangerous job.

In 2015 alone, Crystal has garnered support on local and national levels by rallying support, raising awareness, and raising funds to keep our law enforcement officers as safe as possible while they serve and protect their jurisdictions on-duty and off. Most recently, Crystal organized a local fundraiser at Wolfie's Bar & Grille to raise funds to keep the Smyrna Police Department's 2 newest members of the force as safe as possible. Smyrna PD recently added 2 police canines to the force and Crystal raised enough money to outfit the 2 canines with bullet/stab resistant vests with enough money left over to put in the K9 Unit's account for future expenses.

Job well done and keep up the great work, Crystal Rau !!!!
